    Redesign

The application I was asked to redesign was car navigation for mobile devices. Current situation Diagnosis Objectives Steps Challenges The main challenge for products that have been on the market for many years is to maintain consistent visual identity. The product evolves, new features are added and the product becomes too complicated and hard to use.  Eventually, there comes a point when the application needs to be redesigned. Data analysis The first step was to look at the data and statistics. We had a pretty clear vision about the main features in our product but we had doubts about very…

    The golden wand

This little booklet was based on Der Struwwelpeter, an original book by Heinrich Hoffmann from 1845. The project was created at the University of Fine Arts in Poznan as part of my graphic design faculty. This book is interesting for several reasons. Firstly, The Golden Wand is one of the earliest children’s books to combine visual and verbal narrative and is considered a precursor to the comic books. Secondly, the exceptionally intelligent and witty stories can be a real challenge for the illustrators. Each one is a rhythmic story with a clear moral that shows the unfortunate consequences of children’s…

Women behind the wheel – target group research

The main users of the Naviexpert app are men over the age of 40, accounting for more than 80% of all users. We, on the other hand, wanted to know a little more about female users. What kind of drivers are they, do they drive with the application every day or only on holidays? How do they spend their free time? Survey To get to know this group better, we decided to combine a few research methods. Our starting point was a survey. We sent out a questionnaire to get information about their driving behaviours and habits to find out…

    Driving style

The project is a fleet management telematics platform. It features a desktop application for the fleet manager and an app for drivers. Among other services, the platform offers an algorithm that calculates the driving styles. Business objective To broaden the offer, raise awareness of fleet safety and increase interest in driving style. Design objective To Encourage drivers to install the app, increase user engagement  and raise safety awareness. Benefits for the fleet as a whole are increased fleet safety, along with reduced damage and operating costs. Desk research Analysis of our metrics and discussions with fleets have revealed that driving…

    Dark mode design

Objectives The main objective of this project was to create a night mode of an existing navigation application on the market. Current situation Not only was there no dark mode in the app but there was no consistent colour nor styles system in the code. Almost every element had a separate, unique value. It caused a few problems. Team didn’t have clear specifications and directions whenever a new element had to be designed, moreover every little change was time consuming. The inventory The first step was to identify all the main screens and components so that we knew what is…

    Pora Ora world

Educational content for children to support learning. In 2014 I had a great opportunity to join Caped Koala Studio, Ireland based game developer. We worked on the Pora Ora project- a big universe which contains smaller educational games for kids, also available as independent apps. I could use my experience by creating concept art, UI, character design, texture painting, level design, animations, promo images, logo of new products, icons – both web and print, website design and presentations. The most difficult but at the same time most rewarding task was to make sure that every element is consistent in terms…

    Project Remedium

Project Remedium is a Polish game focusing on the theme of human health. Its protagonist is a nanobot traversing the nooks and crannies of the human body, fighting disease and dangerous bacteria. My role in the project was to create a series of illustrations that make up the game’s intro in the form of a short video. It tells the story of an 11-year-old girl who suddenly falls ill with an incurable, mysterious disease. The game is availabe on Steam.
